My jetta is an automatic trans as of right now! I want to put in a manual out of an 87 - 88 1.8L 8V. I'm buying the whole car so I'll have everything I'll need for the install! My question is, IS it gonna fit? I'd really like to know if the trany from the 87-88 model will fit my 91 before I purchase the car! Please help! and thanks in advance!

hmmm as far as is know the parts are the same and should bolt up kinda. they just changed some of the options and styling. but hey if you buying the whole car are you gonna part it out? i need parts for my 88 jet.

Cool sounds great. To answer your question about parting it out, Yes I will be, There is'nt really all that much that I can use on it for my 91 other than a few minor peices. So what ever you want or need let me know and I'll sell'em to ya cheap. The whole car is being taken apart so I can get rid of the shell. Everything else is being kept and put in storage just in case I need them and to sell them!

cool thanks tons :D it might just be the window assembley cause the bumper would cost more to ship then i could prolly get it at a junk yard. unless they want $100 bucks. then ill just get it thought you. i mean how much can it cost to ship? $20? going cheap

do you have an extre lock for the trunk. my car's trunk latches, but won't lock, and for the stereo i'll be putting in there, it might be needed

Yeah I have the whole car and I don't need the locks so yes I do have them all inc. the trunk. As for the bumper's shipping It only cost me $66 dollars to get one shipped form Toronto, And it was in a great big box too! It will more than likely be less to ship the bumper than that!

ok well the whole bumper is $40 + core. so if it can be shipped and paid for cheaper then that cool. if not then ill just get it from the junkyard. oh and update from the all VW junkyard up by my house. they wont let you back in the yard anymore

you will need to customize the wireharness... do you have a 16v? you will need clutch flywheel presureplate all the shifter box lingage and box and all that the pedeal assembally tranny mount brackets um if you wann a be nitty gritty on the wireharness side you will need the dash cluster too... there is an upshift light... um look up the tranny code and see what the gear ratio is for it too... you might be just making a gas burner... lol but it can be done... doign it right takes alot! it will set you on your way to becoming a pro maybe...
