I have been contemplating on getting an idea on how much the local folks would like to go camping, and a hike. The location I have in mind is Notch Peak, 40 miles southwest of Delta, Utah in the Great Basin. This area is in the middle of no-where so we would not be bothered by others. There are some good campsites in the canyons near the summit. The hike to the summit takes only about 1.5 hours for fit climbers, 3 hours for slower people. Here are some photos:
This one was taken at Notch Peak in 1994. Notch Peak is the second tallest vertical relief in the continental U.S. behind EL Capitan in Yosemite. Notch Peak has a vertical cliff on the north side the is 2700 feet tall, totally vertical. In this photo we reached the top:

This is the same summit on a different trip. To get an idea of the size of this beast I am standing in the upper right hand corner of the picture above the white rock band on the cliff:

All in all tons of fun. Let me know what you guys think of this, and depending on the success of the Uinta drive I may try and get this one to fly as well. Post away....
