Tach signal / hookup on a 92 1.8L 8V

Does anyone know where to hook up an aftermarket tach in a 91 Jetta 8 Valve? I'd like to know I have a tach and shift light I'd like to put in after I switch out the trany.

well depends. if you wanna mod your instrument panel to fit it good luck. but most of them either hook up to the tranny in VW's or the alt or distribtor*sp. im not that sure on it but i can find out tonight. i never had to install a tac so i dunno.

I have a tach in the cluster but I wanna hook up my shift light, and I need a tach signal for that. PLZ Help!
