View Full Version : To get rims or not?

So my rear tires are starting to wear down, and may need replacing soon, so I was thinking of just getting a wheel and tire package from somewhere instead of wasting money on tires for my stock rims. But I can't decide, because the rims may look bad because I haven't lowered my car yet, and I won't be able to afford to lower my car for at least a few months, and I don't want my car to look bad... I don't know, any suggestions?

That's a tough call.
I'd say lower it first, because almost any rims look good lowered.
How much longer do you think you can hold out with your current tires?
Where would you get the new setup from? Are you getting the same size rims?

My current tires might last me a few more thousand miles, but it IS a daily driver, so I put a lot on it. I would be getting 16" or 17" when I get new ones, not sure yet... and I'll probably just be getting a set from ebay, you can get a decent one for 5-700 with tires shipped.

Only a few more thousand eh.... Definitly get the tire/rims first. I know I can put 1000 miles on my car a week easy. The larger setup might make the car actually look a bit higher, I noticed that when I put 14s on my Rabbit, up from 13s. It isn't too bad though, and I think safety should always come before appearance.
