Is it possible to autocross in a 2.0 Jetta? I really want to give it a try, but can the car handle it?

*Wouldn't surprise me if this post ends up in the Vortex as another..."Hey look what this idiot asked" thread

Haha, yeah I guess. Maybe it'll give me a chance to learn the ropes before I buy myself a MINI  .

A4's are also a bit heavier than A3's.. so you may have problems around sharp turns and stuff

What have you got to lose? Autocrossing your car will help you learn how your car handles in extreme situations. If you ever have to swerve to avoid an accident, autocross experience will help you do it safer and quicker.
Also, autocross isnt about power at all. Auto-x is 95% driver skill 5% car. In the last auto-x I went to, I beat some cars that had twice the power AND suspension mod's!
You should go, it will be fun and you will learn alot about your car.

Autocrossing (Solo II) is an SCCA event.

Go to http://www.scca.com/Inside/Index.asp?IdS=0253A4-E467090&Reference=RegionalSites&~= to find a local chapter.

That is what I was going to say.
Apparently those professional driving school classes (not the ****ty driver ED ones) are a major help.

Where do you find a course like that, and how much does it cost?

You have to go to your region's website and look at the calendar. I might do one down in Houston where I'll be working this summer. It's $65, including classroom and track time.
