Wow!!! That is in fantastic shape? Hows the automatic tranny treating you? I hear the torque converters in the A2 suffered very little loss in power transfer to the wheels... I have yet to drive an automatic a2... Where did you score that sucker? The interior looks great.
I'm thirsty for more pics!

Hey, i pulled the dipstick it appears to be busted, why would this happen? Abuse? Neglect? Could i swap a dipstick that is busted for one off a 85 Jetta? Im still not at home yet so i cant compare. Thanks

Hey guys, i just got home last friday.. been putting some kms on the golf. It runs great, but i did have to put in a new rad fan motor as the other one was pooched. Changed the oil, put in a the new dipstick and the stereo system should be in next week.

I've seen you on the road a few times. Next time I'll lay on the horn.
If you are getting a stereo from Electronic Playground (which I recommend, Stereo Plus will strew you over) give me a shout and I'll go with you. I always get killer deals there.
Give me a call when you are working on the Golf. My Rabbits working now so I'll take you for a spin.

Hey guys, so yesterday i got started on my car stereo. I put in a nice Kenwood setup, kenwood isnt exactly the best but its pretty respectable. I put a real nice head unit in, they custom mounted two 4.5" 100 watt speakers in the door panels, and two 240 watt 6x9" speakers in the hatch area. It sounds really good for not having subs. hopefully in the near future. but it does pound. if anyones interested in seeing pics, i'll be happy to post em :D

Man.... I drove my friends cabriolet... same engine and tranny... I have to say it was pretty nice. If you floor it, the tranny shifts real hard into second and you can feel the torque in the shift. It feels like a manual, but man it was a bit slow, lol...
Yeah, Kenwood is my favorite brand... they rule. I have sony subs and an amp though....

Heres my deck, 4x50w Kenwood
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y187/Etchbag/Picture924.jpg
Heres how they mounted the 6x9's on the rear deck, lots of slack in the wiring underneath so it remains funcional with the hatch. :)

And heres the door mount 4.5' speakers, which i think was done quite well, cleaned up the door real nice. All this together definitly helps the ride more interesting.

This setup defintly sounds clean. The install looks amazing too.
John wasn't driving it hard when I was in there but it was defintly a quality smooth ride.

Its been a while since ive posted anthing about this car, so i'll try to mention anything i can think of, since last post ive added 2 10" alpine type "S" subwoofers, and a 1000w 5 channel amp. The car now offically pounds. It did drain on the alternator a bit, but i think its fine. I replaced the starter motor only to find out there was nothing wrong with the one i have.. could be a bad battery ground wire.. i''ll check this weekend. Ive sanded and painted the bottlecap rims, if anyone wants to see pics i'll post (their totally PIMP!) Theres a few things that need attention for me to be very satisfied with the car, although it runs like new! Including
valve cover gasket, passenger side mirror, a 24v capacitor for the system, plastic fender flares, fix the busted sunroof, the radio reception is horrible since the sub install, and the pass side cv joint is loud so it needs to be greased, and a new speedo cable .. as theres a annoying ticking sound upon acceleration.. im sure its the speedo cable.

Dude I love that interior, I have the same one in my car which I got from an '88 golf. Although the back seat is by no means a perfect fit in a Jetta, it still looks awesome and is such a great interior. Now I just wish I had a nice Golf to put the interior back into.

Yeah, the interior is pimp, i lucked out mine looks like it just rollewd off the assembly line. I always keep her clean and tidy. although i have added a GTI wheel to accent the packagem heres a picture of the amp, does anyone know what these go for? or wjo makes them? it works awesome and got a great deal on it
