Ok guys all you know I was looking to get a new car since some workmates bought rice (civics and accords, all 4 bangers, despite my warns about rice...)... well, finally I cannot wait until the MK5 goes out, I was looking for the Seat León Cupra R but it was not so comfortable at all, those recaro seats are for racing not for short trips and city driving.... then was looking for an Audi S3 but guess what.... still not released here!!!

Test drove the A3 with the FSI 2.0T engine but resulted too small for what I was looking.... so once again I was looking for an A4 or A6 but realized they were out of the pocket.... sooo after visiting several times all german dealers (Seat, Volkswagen, Audi) I decided to try french (Renault and Peugeot) but still not satisfied... so I commited a crime and put my feet on japanese dealers....

So I end up with a Maxima 2005 3.5L SL V6... I am completely amazed about this car it is so fkng fast and it has only 265HP and 255lb-ft, a lot of torque steer.... and an awesome sound from the engine....

Why did I go rice??? because it meet my needs and it was only 34K USD. The jetta will go for the wife so I am dubber-in-law.

I know many of you will hate me hereafter... but what do you think about these Maximas?? never bought rice before, but so far it is going smooth...

If you have to ask if you are a traitor then you automatically are a traitor!

As for the maxima thingy i like em too, they are damn quick, i had to drive a couple for a dealership that i work for on and off. I must say the the new Nissan Sentra SER Spec-V's are incredable and sorry to say i would take it over most VW's... sorry guys but i chirped that damn thing in 3rd no prob and the interior is down right AMAZING, plus the fact that i was able to keep up with my friend who was in a Pontiac Trans AM WS6.

To me "Rice" isnt all japanese cars, its japanese cars that make you say "what the f***?" when you see it.

Congrats on the new car and enjoy!

I whole heartedly agree with sausage burner, a rice vehicle is exactly that...excellent definition...

Nissan is an amazing company with remarkable cars. Amazing interiors, awesome engines, supreme body styling...Id drive a Nissan any day of the week...Naturally, if a Volkswagon wasn't in play... My honest opinion about volkswagon is this...

Its is a great company with a quality product...The body stylings, interiors, and engines are great and everything, BUT you have to like european styling and that goes with all European cars... Look at Porsche and Audi...very european...

BMW is now looking more and more less german than ever before... Car and Driver said the following about the new 5-Series, "It looks like a 5-series with kabuki makeup...and we're absolutely convinced the rear end is angry at us..." and that goes with the 7-Series as well...

Mercedes, I don't care what you're saying that they all look the same or whatever, but these things are 5000-lbs of unequivocal elegance and German Power and I'd take a E/CLK/SL/CL55 AMG any day of the week over an Audi, , but I will not drive a C-Class EVER! THAT IS THE WORST CREATION EVER BY SUCH A REPUTIBLE COMPANY!!!

But, back to what I was saying...VW is a great car at a great price...but there are plenty out there that beat it...

I don't want to floor it yet, but today a Camaro guy wanted to race me... we lauched from a light and when I looked at the speedo it was 110 mph 8O ... I was totally used to the slowness in my 2.0 auto... I think I reached 4,500 rpm and only pressed 3/4 of all accelerator but it moved like a rocket.... this thing is insanely fun to drive.

BTW it is auto (I said I want comfort first ok...) with 5 spd, black leather, cheap LCD display, Bose sound, non-so-good dash finish and the damn speedo is in miles per hour

Nice looking car. I don't know about those headlights though.

You definitly aren't a traitor. A traitor would have kept this hush hush. But now that you've purchased it, it's time to get a VW rabbit for $100 and start a project :D

Do you plan on doing any mods to it?

Hehe, here I can see a lot of rabbits around (it's mexico you know) they call them "caribe" and have seen some Caribe GT two door which look sick I think that's the old GTI we know in Europe... yeah I miss my diesel so much that I would get an old diesel here and gift it to my brother (and eventually drive it for fun) I will be looking around and with luck I will find one.

As for the mods, I am not so mod biased, I think a car should be as it was designed to be, for durability and keeping the drivetrain free of trouble, you see I do a lot of short trips and reliability is a must.

Just for curiousity... what can these engines put out with mods???

You cant wait 40 more days for the MkV Jetta? You could have bought a fu*king MERCEDES BENZ SPORT SEDEAN for less than that. (31,000) You made a huge mistake, dawg.

Cody, It would have been a mistake if you had bought it, since you hate non-german cars. But since DavidLara likes it, it wasn't a mistake. It's just a personal preferance.

See my father is number-one-fan-of-Mercedes, honestly he was also suggesting a car like that, but I wanted a new car, not a used one and a new Mercedes is more expensive here, unless I wanted a Smart or something of that size.

See guys I think I took this decision mainly because I see lot of VW around here, they are like civics in your town, in a single light I've seen 5 jettas!!! so if you want to stand a little in the crowd, you won't go for a jetta here... unless it is a MKV GLI (which case I would had to wait longer), besides, this will be my work car, need something quiet, smooth yet a little powerful for the short trips and every rush to the airport. And let's not forget that it is a japanese... cheap, reliable and with nice mileage...

I've been always fan of VW and Audi, and if things keep in the right way I will be looking for a S6 in a year or so... in the meanwhile, let's try rice this time...
