My remote locks barely work anymore. I think it's the battery inside the key. Anyone know how to replace it?

usually theres a little slot on the side of the remote that you can insert a coin in, twist and it should pop open and the rest is cake ! 8)

be careful when you open the keypad... I broke one of mine and had to superglue it shut.

Yes you have to reprogram the key after you put in the new battery because I have a 1999.5 Golf and I had to replace the battery before. The instructions to reprogram the key is in your manual like you have to put one key in the ignition and then something with one in the door I don't remember it all but it sucked.

What year ya working on?

I pulled one of mine apart last night and still worked upon re assembly.

Programming them is easy anyway so no biggie.

BTW, I know this is a old thread but someone in the future may be reading through to get the info so there ya are.
