Not really. So this morning, my poor van wouldnt start. Everything was turned off last night, and it didnt start with any more difficulty than normal for a drive last night either. The alternator was replaced not too long ago, maybe 9 mos. Maybe its just a dead battery, but that was replaced not too long before i bought it either... *sigh*

That sux man, Same thing happened to me about a month ago. I think cold weather does bad things to batteries. Make sure you buy a decent replacement. Diehard Gold is good. I would have gotten one, but I wanted a sealed batt, because now it's in the back seat.

I run a red-top Optima in mine. They are pricey, I think around $110-$140, but I have been impressed. The thing kicks out around 1100 cca.

I have one too. The only crappy thing about Optima is the warranty. They cover it forever(a couple years) but when it dies you have to exchange it at the stor you bought it from. When the 2 optimas in my dads truck started crapping out, they said he had to go back to Northern california to exchange them! How rediculous is that!

If you have a Costco membership I have seen them there. I know the one in Murray sells them. Take a look at the link below, I think there is a lot of information in there. The red top is rated at 700-750 cca, but the dealer here in SLC tested it in the Jetta and the meter read 1100. "Optima scales down how much amperage the battery is capable of due to scaring off uneducated consumers." (per the battery shop owner, Batteries Plus, 3300 S 200 E here in SLC) They use dry-cell technology which allows for much less discharge over time, according to the link below.
