I need a whole new floor in my project rabbit. I have a floor from a parts car that is mint, so I was goint to chop it out and weld it in.
Where should I cut the floors? There are holes on both sides on the outside of the sliders. Should I leave some of the old floor in, and weld the other one on top, but cut some holes in it so I can weld the 2 together?
I'll get some pictures later today so you know what I am talking about
EDIT: I'll be sure not to cut my brake lines or gas lines and blow myself up 8)

Cut the old one out around the rust. I wouldnt do any more than you have to because the job is a pain. I replaced both sides in my brothers 63 ranchero. It is way easier to overlap the floors about 1/8 inch and lap weld the whole thing, but if you want it perfect, make it fit with little to no gap and butt weld that mofo. What kind of welder are you using? I did my bro's car with Oxy/acetyline  took forever, but it was a cool car after we finished everything. good luck!

I have a mig welder. I don't care about perfection. I'm just selling the beaster. I plan on selling it certified so I may as well do this right enough to pass. I'm kind of thinking though, since I am putting all this work into it, I should keep this as a summer car.
Here is a couple of pictures of the current floor

YEAH!
PLZ tell me your fixing the charcoal silver rabiit?
i love that one! 8O
fix it and keep it!! 8)
that cat is hot man!
i would recommend cutting out the rust and then cutting a template a little bigger then weld right over...
rust is sometimes like a flesh eating disease, it will spread if you dont amputate, esecially on that area if the car where moisture is great...
hope this helps!

yeah the floor is for the charcoal one, but whether I am keeping it or selling it is another story. I would defintly cut out all the rust, and put some Corrostop and tar undercaoting stuff on it.
I think I will get more support if I weld it right over. But I would cut some holes in the good floor where the old floor is still good and weld them together for extra strength. I'd proably put some tar in between too to hold it all together a bit more.

You know that floor isnt that bad... If you cleaned it up, and sanded the major rust off, then you could spray 2 or 3 layers of primer, and that floor would be good as new... no need to cut out the floor.

If you saw it in person, you would know it needs welding. When you step on it it almost gives out. If I did what you say, I would say one summer until my seat falls onto the road when I am driving. LOL
I didn't get the greatest shots, I'll try again later

I had to replace my entire floor. I ended up fabbin up my own due to the extensive damage. I had rot higher than the seat rails.
If I would have knows, I would have purchased this:
