--- Ok, thought I would post up one of my hobbies here, which is building and collecting models. I thought that some of you might be interested in this type of thing. The photos shown below are a few of the models that I have right now that are not in storage. I started collecting cars when I was 12, and have built up a collection that probably has 250-300 models now. With space being a much needed commodity now days, the majority of the models are stored safely away.

Here are some shots of a few models from my German car collection:

1:24 VW New Beetle, red. Franklin Mint
1:43 VW Corrado SLC VR6, deep purple. Schabak
1:43 Porsche 911 Turbo, blue. Minichamps
1:43 VW Mk3 Jetta 2.0, red. Schabak
1:43 VW Mk4 Jetta, silver. Minichamps
1:87 VW New Beetle, silver. Wiking

This one below is a 1:24 Welly model of the Mk4 Jetta, which I got in the mail three days ago. The first thing I did was tear it apart, replaced the stock wheels with BBS, lowered it about 1/4 of an inch, and tinted the rear windows with translucent tint spray paint. The first shot is what the model looked like stock, without mods, and of course it is silver, not black:

Now for the modded shots:

Also I am in the process of assembling a 1:24 scale Revell model, which will be highly modified with BBS RS wheels, 40 series tires, and last but not least a VR6 transplant. This one has to be perfect, as the Revell model kits are hard to come by for this particular car. So a good majority of the winter will be spent on perfecting it.

I collect all 1:18 scale cars. Havent really gotten into the smaller ones. I've got almost 50 that have been accumulating over the past 10 years, lol...

Oh yeah, visit www.exoticar.com and sign up for their catalog. Its free, they'll send it in the mail, and it has all the latest releases from AutoArt, Welly, Kyosho, Maisto, and all the other guys.

The weird thing is... I was thinking about models about a day before this was posted.

I've only ever done one model in my life... it was of a mid 90's mustang. I did it when I was like 10 years old and loved it, so I asked for some VW models for christmas and one of a WRX ST-I.

--- Here is my attempt at an a2 Golf plastic model. I have specialty parts on order from Canada, Japan, Germany, ....etc. I am hoping that this will be one of the best yet. When this is completed (hopefully by summer) it should be rocking a 12v vr6 motor, BBS rs wheels, full recaro interior, and a nice platinum gray paint job.

--- Needless to say I am in the dog house again with the wife for using all of her counterspace, but I am in the dog house usually a couple times a week at least. Also these projects are excellent for winter because I am nice and warm inside rather than working on the real car outside. :P
