View Full Version : Funny as hell - Public impression on Diesels

This email was sent to me by a man named Paul Resch... He can be emailed by using this address: pcresch@yahoo.com... Apparently he included his cell phone number at the bottom of the email... So if you want to call him and ask him why he's a dumbass, then go for it.

He had a little comment on my diesel fuel squirt system... Read the entire email starting at the bottom.

----------------

Good point, and honarable facts, unfortunatly, I must comment on your comments.

Number one: I am a bad driver. I am a severe cause of a lot of road rage, and I believe that if a person thinks they need to go 5mph over the speed limit, and to tai**ate somebody who just so happens to be going the speed limit, then I think they deserve to be punished.

Number two: I do desire to ruin diesels reputation... Know why? Cause the more people that get diesels, the less of an "exclusive group" there is.... It's not fun owning a diesel if 5 out of 10 others on the road are diesel as well. Also, the more people that get 50mpg diesel cars, the more incentive there is to raise the prices of diesel fuel. Diesel fuel used to be 1.05/gallon in Utah here and this was about 6 years ago when gasoline was 1.30/1.40/gallon. Now diesel fuel is 2.35/gallon, whereas premium is 2.10/gallon. I am sure it's not exclusivly because of diesel cars, but it's just another aiding factor. Ever since Dodge and Ford diesel's have been getting popular, diesel has never come down in price. The more diesel cars on the road, the less interesting and economical it is to own one.

People who know me and my cars know why I drive them. They are just plain better. They last longer, they make more torque, the fuel mileage rivals the best hybrid gasoline cars today.

I don't need to comprimise my fun when driving a car to know how good they are. True car enthusiasts know how good the new diesel engines
are, and don't need to "make an impression on the public" with a 15 year old beater jetta with 340,000 miles on to proove how good they are.

If the "public's impression" is that diesels are noisy, smelly, smokey, gas guzzling, and what have you, then that is their problem, and our gain.

If somebody asks for my opinion on which car they should get, I always reccomend the TDI. If they respond in such a way, ohhh well arent diesels noisy, smelly and smokey? My response is simply, No. Almost all new diesels are not like that. Go drive one, and make up your own mind. Or when I pull up to a diesel pump and tell the clerk to "fill er up" and he says do you know this is a diesel fuel pump?, I simply say, YES, I know... Fill er up please.

You see, diesel is the minority by a long shot in america right now, and I think it should stay that way to preserve the exclusive culture that a select few drivers in the world have built.

People who say "The entire world should drive diesels" are simply not considering what would happen to the diesel culture if it were that way. Fortunatly the majority of the "public" are totally misinformed on diesels.

Diesel's true technology and image will gradually improve over the years as ford and jeep release their economy diesels next year. Mabey you should think about where the "public impression" comes from... Hmmmmm mabey 14.0L semi rigs that billow smoke every time they shift a gear? 90% of the people I talk to don't even know my cars are diesel until I tell them. I assure you Mr. Non-Aliased Paul Resch, the "public impression on diesels" won't be altered in any way by a 15 year old beater jetta that smokes a little more than usual. So please don't make such a rash gesture and comment about the "public impression" until you think about it a little bit.

Thank you.

-CODY WEBB <--------------- Non Aliased (if you are referring to the time I signed my post as "Pedro", first take a joke. Second, usually when somebody opens an email they read who it's from. The email I signed as "Pedro" was sent from my address that displays my name on the from line. I don't need to "hide" from my beliefs on how the majority of diesel drivers desire to operate their cars.)

Sorry, I have to comment.

A lot of good work by Engineers and people maintaining their cars is wasted if the desire is to offend other drivers with smoke. The proper and safe way to stop tai**aiting is to slow down, look for a lane change and let the idiot by. Not enrage him so he drives more stupidly than he already is. The closer you get, the slower I will go.

If you want to make very sure diesels remain in the public's mind as noisy, smoky and smelly, go right ahead and let the car compensate for some other lack in your life.

We should not stand by and permit this without saying something.

LMAO. That is truly amazing. You are a genious. Why did this guy email you?

I hate it how the cost of diesel sky rocketed. The good thing is that Biodiesel is still a good 20 cents cheaper per liter up here. I jsut have to drive an hour to get it. :?
