Just wondering if anyone knew of any links on the internet that had some instructions (and possibly pictures) of installing a neuspeed chip into my jetta. I know its e z I just wanna know what tools I need or should buy and how to not screw up my ECU hehe. If anyone has installed one of these could you also let me know? Thanks.

What engine do you have? And what year?
This will let you know if its plug in or not...

If it’s a plug in chip, all you need is an IC extractor to pull the ECU.
I did this on my friends 90 GTI, an entire 2 min of work.

When you install the chip, look at the little notch missing on the one side. That is pin 1. Make a note were it is positioned.

Use an IC extractor to then pull the chip. If you don’t have an IC extractor or can’t get one, a butter knife can be used. Slowly edge up one side a little, then move to the other side, and repeat as needed.

Now with the chip missing, look at the socket.
Their should and will also be a small notch missing. This is once again Pin 1. Make a note of that.

Now when install the new Chip, simply place the chips notched side over the sockets notched side. Ensure all the LEGs are lined up with the socket. Then firmly and evenly push down.

And you are done. Yes it’s that simple and should take about 2 min to install MAX. Probably 30 seconds, if you have done it before. The hardest part of the entire process taking apart the box that the ECU lives in.

Oh and once again, make a note of PIN 1. That MUST be installed in the correct position or you will fry the ECU. So make sure you have the notched lined up on the same side when you install.

Hope this clears this all up for you.

How much was it just out of curiosity?
