View Full Version : Sorta owned an oldskool Jeep Wrangler

Okay, so I was on powerhouse road in Spanish Fork... It's a very small road, no passing lanes, 25mph. I usually go 50-60mph on this road. :D Anyway, I got behind this... Like.... 1970 Jeep Wrangler that' is going the speed limit, and I was like wtf.... So I kinda backed off cause the road was almost to an end. The jeep was turning my way, and I was like... HELL NO! So we turned left onto highway 6 which is 2 lanes in each direction, I took a extreemly wide turn and droped the Benz down into 1st gear, and sped past him.... I guess this pissed him off, so I heard his 6 banger downshift, and we were in a neck for neck race! I redlined 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear clear up to 6,700rpm. When I was in 1st gear, he was right as my side, but then he had to shift, and that's when I gained 2 cars lengths. He wasnt loosing any ground, but he was still 2 car lenths behind me... He is now in 2nd gear... I had to shift into 2nd, so I did, and he gained about 1/2 car length (we are now going 55mph) We are both in 2nd gear he's about 1 car length behind me. He shifts, BAM, I gain 2 more car lengths. I shift into 3rd... Which should take me up to 75mph in the benz... But right now we are going about 60... This went on until I hit 100mph in 4th gear, this is where the jeep tops out I am guessing cause he either: 1. Topped out 2. Backed off like a pansie 3. Didnt have a radar detector and was afraid of getting pulled over. I'm thinking it's option 1 and 2. Anyway, I kept going until traffic made an obstacle... Top speed in this race was about 105mph. He must have had the 6 banger in there, cause he really kept up with me! I was very surprised... None the less it was still another score for the German side. :wink: :wink: :D :D :twisted: :twisted:

Wow, it sounds like that Jeep could even beat that Eclipse you raced. Nice win.

those jeeps are torquey man my friend had a 99 classic before he rolled it at 70 LOL hes ok but he drove it live a maniac i raced him afew times in my 8v and it was dead even. the grand cherokees are fast too in the 7 sec range.

Those jeeps are geared for climbing, but they top out easilly. It was rather fun, the race.

I wouldnt reccomend so much negative camber on the street and Im not a big fan of 24's :lol:
