I was thinking today and thought that a less expensive way to get a good looking grille is just to paint an OEM one black as opposed to paying hundreds for the Kamei, Oettinger grilles. On ebay, I could get one for less than $30 probably. Tell me what you think, it would be for my Silver MKIV.

If you paint (which I think you should) buy a spare grill first, just in case. Make sure you take the proper steps in prepping your grill and that you use the right paint. Krypton or something like that I hear is the best. Go to a local paint shop (not Wal Mart) and see what they say. They tend to know what they are talking about.

Yeah, since they don't cost a fortune (used), I would get a spare one to paint instead of painting mine. That way, if I don't like it, I'll take it off and call it a night.

Thats exactly what I was talking about. Hopefully it works though, that would be cool. Make sure to make a DIY when you do it. :D

Not really, there is a fair bit of prep work involved. I know that there are people out there who won't attempt anything without a complete understanding of what is going on....

True, but you have to take risks every once in a while.
