Rear License Plate Mount

Quick question, the plastic on 89-92's around the rear license plate...
Will that attack to 88 and older Jetta's?
Or am i goint to have to get a new trunk for that to work?

i believe you would have to get a new trunk.

I did it to my 88' Jetta GL... All you have to do is remove that little plastic lip on the trunk, and slip that big plastic holder in it's place. Make sure you save the screws. It should screw right back into place. there are 4 screw holes that hold the plastic lip on. When you replace it with the new holder, you will only be able to use two screw holes, the ones on the outter side... Make sure when you look for one that you find one that the screw fastening holes are not broken, or out of shape, other wise it's going to rattle pretty badly or fall off all together... Other than that, it works pretty well... You could probably even rivet it to the lid directly. You should be okay tho. Go for it and let us know how it works out.
