View Full Version : 91 jetta diesel might buy need help/info

ok this post goes out to the diesel master, cody. i found a 91 jetta, needs new heator core and has a coolant leak, has 198,000 miles, possably blown head gasket. there asking $650 US. it might also be a ECO diesel? what is that, is this a good price, would anyone else be interested in buying this if i don't?

An eco diesel is a more enviromently friendly diesel. It has a cat (pretty sure), and some other things that really knock the power off it. A few mods and you are good to go though. Depending on the body and interior etc, I think that may be over priced.

That sounds like a good maximum price to pay, but it depends on what is really wrong with the engine

LOL, if it's an ECOdiesel, and it's in the condition you say, then it's worth 2,000 USD, at least. The ECOdiesel is a turbo diesel with cat converter (actually it's a soot trap) and a NON-turbo injection pump (less fuel).

If it has a turbo (TD or ECO) then BUY IT NOW!!!! :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: If it doesnt have a turbo, then talk him down to 500, and snatch that up.

ok i asked if it was a turbo and she said no, so its not a TD or a ecco then, :( but i want a diesel!

I'd look at the car and make sure... Those turbos are hard to see!

It's not a turbo diesel. It's in pretty good shape.... I'd definatly get it for that price.
