Just letting you all know that Canadian Tire rents tools for free. The catch is you pay full price up front, but they give you every penny back when you bring the tool back. You get it for 3 days but if you need it longer just call in and tell them.

Yeah.. just another of the many reasons to move to Canada.

I haven't used the service yet but I'm sure one day I'll need a tool I don't feel like buying.

We do have it here in the US...Autozone. I just got a piston ring groove cleaner Monday for $20.00. When I return it tomorrow, they'll give me every cent back.

lol, must be, but in all honesty, that's not what I'm doing. Its the same deal as Ctire. They have a list of tools available, you pick it out, they charge you full price of the tool, you take it home and use it then return it for a full refund.

Checker and Autozone do, I think.

Most of the stuff you get from those stores only work for domestic vehicles.... I have yet to find a place that rents specialty tools for vw.
