Short Shift...

Does anyone know if you can make a shortshift kit your self, or modify the stock shift...

Yeah you can make them yourself. I think I posted how to in the "handy page for the DIYer" in the A2 section. I'll try and find it for you.

hacksaw the old one... thats all my buddy did it worked you just cant have a shift knob that screws on.

I had an ABD one on my car before the conversion. This one gives you the option to have three selections, depending on which hole you decide to connect to on the unit that mounts to the trans. I ended up doing the shortest throw, reducing shift movement by about 65%. You can make one if you are good with metal and have access to machine tools, but I also recommend getting the weighted linkage rod, helps out a ton. I ended up selling mine after the vr conversion. :roll:

I couldn't find out exactly where it is, but I am 90% sure it is in the vortex MK2 DIY page. It's 11 pages long and I don't feel like going through it all again. I tried a search but couldn't find it. Maybe I saw it on JO.

i got a knock off ABD short shift for 15bucks. there is a guy on ebay that makes them. ill see if i can get his name. its just a stainless bar that is crimp bent in 2 places

ya just like a mk2... you can use either the ABD style, OR the neuspeed style, they both accomplish the same thing...
