My 2.0 just started idling very roughly, it does ok when the rpms go up. It is getting worse, the engine sputters etc! Please post some possbile problems... :(

Idling rough like up and down or almost stalling? Have you done anything to it lately? Was it just a one day it worked, the next it didn't situation? Maybe you got a batch of bad gas...

vacum leak if the boot is leaking or cracked that can cause it to sputter.start it and listen to the engine with the hood up see if you hear any hissing.
also dirty fuel injectors try running a bottle of injector cleaner through it witha full tank of mid grade.

I don't know it happened over night, I don't think it would be the injectors...I checked the dist. cap and rotor..they were pitted some but i cleaned them up.

I would think it's either your fuel deleivery system (but since it runs at high rpms, maybe not) or a vacum leak or the gas. It may even be your O2 sensor.
If you hold your throttle in the same position, do the rmps drop and rise? If not then it probably isn't your fuel.

totally sounds like a vacum leak to me my car did that too and ther was a 2 inch crack in the boot so look closely wiggle the intake see if it changes the idle, it will totaly FU*K up you air to fuel ratio.

Only time I had this problem was when I lost my gascap at a station once, and it rained the day after while my car was sitting in the driveway with no cap on... Once I replaced the cap, it went away after a few days.
But since you aren't missing your gascap... maybe it is just a batch of bad gas

An easy way to check for vaccum leaks is to lightly spray throttle body or carb cleaner around the hoses and connection points. A leak will be indicated when the car idles differently, or dies altogether. I have noticed that using ethyl-ether will cause the idle to raise. I found a huge leak doing this, on the hard vaccum line that feeds the brake booster.

Also: This car is a 98? Should have OBD-2. If you want to save all of the troubleshooting, I would have it VAGGED. If you can find a cool shop to go to, I would have them scan it, and if it throws some codes it should indicate where the problem is. Is your check engine light on?

my check engine light is on, and has been for a while. I am going to try to get the code checked somewhere, that or get a little code reader deal. Just wanted to get an idea on some of the problems it could be.

This definately sounds like a fuel issue. Here are some of the possibilities:
Mass air flow sensor
O2 sensor
Coolant temp sensor
Fuel pressure regulator
Hall sender
Throttle position sensor
Bad or clogged fuel injector
Fuel delivery system (pump/s)
Crappy gas
Clogged fuel filter
Intake air temp sensor
ECU malfunction
Faulty wiring harness or connection
And probably a lot more... I still wouldn't rule out a vacuum leak though. Be happy you have OBD-2, I have to troubleshoot all of this crap with a Bentley and a Digital Multi Meter.

my car is a 96 and it did the EXACT thing yours is doing. i went and got the light checked and the code reader said it was nothing. i noticed mine sputtered REALLY bad right after i just got in the car, started it up, and drove off. my dad suggested that i let it warm up so i did and it hasnt done that since. :D
