There's a 2000 TDI engine for sale in autotrader. $3000 CND for it, with a 5 spd tranny. only 80 000 kms on it. I'm thinking I should buy this and drop it into my Jetta...

I would give you guys the link but autotrader isn't link friendly.

The only thing is it isn't a complete car. I think I would need a donor car since so many parts are different between the A2 and the A4, plus ones diesel and ones gas. I'll give them a call and see its possible to get the rest of the car.

Yeah I'm going to give them a call tomorrow or something. Does anyone know what time dealerships are generally open until on weekdays?
If I can buy the whole car I probably will. Even still it is going to sit outside for the winter but it would be a fun summer project.

I was wondering because I usually don't get home until 6 on weekdays. I guess I'll just call them and see what happens.

Dealerships have weird hours, and since they have like 3 or 4 different departments, each department also has different hours.

I'm not on MSN because the computer I am on doesn't let me conect to MSN. My brother is on the other one.

You can buy a mechanical injector pump for 1.9TD and you wouldnt have to worry about the electronic crap.

the 99-04 TDI engines have lots of power, but may i warn you they are very high maitenence and have alot of problems.

My dad bought a 2002 jetta tdi, ran nice but had a million and one things that just went wrong with it!

I would get a 1.9 TD or a TDI from a 93-98 jetta or golf...

I think I'll let this one pass. Thanks for all the info guys.

Do the 93-98 TDIs have less problems? Didn't the TDI come out in 94? I think I'm going to save my money for the winter and then in the spring get a A3 golf TDI.

Nonsense. Get a TDI engine and swap the injector pump over... A MECHANICAL DIRECT INJECTION diesel would ROCK... That thing would own. Crank over that fuel screw and dump insane amounts of fuel into that TDI, and I'll bet you could make some serious torque and hp with that setup. For 3,000 CAN, i'd go for it.

LOL I know you are going to hate me for this but I found a diesel rabbit I think I am going to buy.
If I had the 3 grand, or my parents would actually lend me some money I would probably by the TDI. But then again it would sit in my garage until the spring.
