LMAO yeah id say. i baby the hell outta mine and only drive it on weekends!
i wouldent risk a crash or a door ding with my mas.
and how i came across it was , i t was sitting in a used car lot covered i had no clue what it was
and i had test drove every car i was intrested in on the lot and they all sucked!! which means they had no vw's LOL
i was about to leave and they are well maybe you wnt to look at this one.
it was covererd has a cusom taylored cover!!
so i drove it and was in love instantly!
i paid 9000 cash for it in 1999. it has about 73 thousand miles on it.
aparently its gaining value now because of the reintroduction of maseratis to the US.
but back to the valve cover im glad you guys like it.
at JO they prolly wouda bashed me cause its not "MIRROR FINISH"
but im happy with it ,and thats what counts.

Okay, so let's yank the motor and stick it in your GLi.... Savvy?

it would require a conversion to rear whee drive.
and i dunno i think i want to keep my gli pure. just port polish cam, bore it out light weight fly, suspension.
LOL
but that would be absoutley nutty!!! it woud no doubt be the only one in existance . i think a r32 motor swap would produce close to the same results
without the MAJOR fabrication .
but the maserati is pretty light too its 2800 and bout the same size as my jetta a little bigger not much though.
but im leaving her alone lol maybe a turbo upgade in the future HEHEHEHE
id love a 400 rwhp maserati 430.

How much did the valve cover run you? I was thinking of taking my valve cover and the one on the side and getting them sand blasted then painting them.

i got it for 75$ im not gonna lie
LOL they have other ones on ebay cheaper. All nice finished prob 50-60 bucks.
BUT the breather and oil cap are on opposite sides. They are euro and i dident want to fabricate some new set up for my breather hose.
the only one know of is off of a g60 corrado and those are kinda rare. so i looked and the only other one was in england, and the guy was a ****. so as soon as i saw a g60 valve cover on ebay i snagged it.
maybe i over paid .
but i like it 8)

As long as it's worth $75 to you thats what counts. I think if I was putting alot into my car I would spend $75 on it. It's such a big improvement.
I said "...was thinking of..." as in, back when I wasn't selling it I was thinking of doing it.

I love admiring work that I've done.
I just read your post you made on JO about this whole valve cover polishing. Absolutly terrible. That is lower then rock bottom. I'm glad I'm not apart of that anymore.
How old is your battery?

That's a fair hike man. Like a 5 day drive?
Are you sure the battery is getting the electricty that the alternator is producing? Like the alternator might be working but a faulty wire connection might be preventing the electrictiy from getting to the battery.

Yeah I drove from my house to BC with my family this summer, 5 days. It wasn't too bad. We were in our GMC Safari.
I think to check it you just use a multilmeter and check the resistance between the two ends, not sure though.

Did you install an oil baffle? That looks great. I think I might do that to my diesel.
miamiDaveGLi
10-09-2004, 11:20 AM
Did you install an oil baffle? That looks great. I think I might do that to my diesel. ya it was compatable with my existing baffle so it was a direct swap. very very simple. tho only thing is my car has cruise control. so i have to modify the bracket so i can mount it back on
but other that that its fits like LEGGOS 8) *edit*
also i bought a new valve cover gasket for the aba engine (1 piece) but i need the correct studs for it to seat porperly. so thats mt next project.
currently it has the original gasket which works just fine! no leaks at all.
