Hey guys, I am thinking of parting out my Jetta. It's too much work for something I am just going to sell.
Here's the goods
Power windows - with center console and 6 switches, missing one peice of trim for the rear windows and the relay
front manual windows
1 tail
2 headlights
good rear struts
cluster
decent interior (I'll steam clean it for you)
good brown dash
MINT head liner, white
Excellent working E-brake
good glass except windheild
I've never had the car out of first gear, but the clutch feels strong
Chunk of about 25 inch long stock exhaust piping, looks pretty new
Excellent blue trunk carpet
Good looking spare tire
GTI style steering wheel
and all the other random A2 stuff except suspention and a heater core.
Do you guys think I can at least get $300 CND for this stuff?
You could buy the whole car, the eninge runs fine with the exception of a high idle. Minor rust, recent undercoating by yours truly. I can deleiver in ON for the price of gas.

I want a rabbit. And I am getting kicked out of the garage soon so I won't be able to work on this car until at least march. You are welcome to buy it and finish it off :D

I don't know. I'm going to have to dump like $1000 into it and I don't even like it that much. If it was a TD or TDI then I wouldn't mind dumping money into it. I want a rabbit though. Or a Golf. It's not like I'm abandoning the VW, just the Jetta.
Well here's the list of stuff I need.
No heater
No horn
Windshield
Wiper doesn’t park
Left front side marker bulb
License plate bulbs
4 door handles
2 mufflers
Fuel lines
Fuel filter
Rear steel brake lines
Rear brake hoses
Steel lines on rear axle
Prop. Valve
Front to back steel lines
Front pads
Front struts/springs
Alignment
Caliper guide pins/bolts
Rear tires
Lug bolts
Rear coil springs
Rear wheel cylinder leaking
Front rotors
I have to get all this done in 2 weekends...

LOL I bought a parts car with the intent of fixing it up. It only cost $150 so that's what happened to it. Actually the guy I bought it off of bought it as a parts car, used what he needed then sold it to me. I have 3 weeks to get parts, but only 2 weekends to work on it due to thanksgiving next weekend.

I think what I am going to do is part the car out, save my money and be dub less :( for the the winter. And come spring or something I'll buy a A3 TDI Golf.

yeah man i see where your coming from , shes pretty far gone.
i think you could get 300 for it with the extras .
hate to see a jetta owner sell though
but stick with A2 jettas or golf or a rabbit even. man straight go karts!
and way less than a a3
but thats just my opinion.

Yea, if you want to modify a car seriously, A2s are probably better. I found that out the hard way when I had no money left to modify my A3... Still working on it though..

Yeah. Brake jobs aren't fun from what I hear. I really love the A1s, but I want a TDI. I'm thinking a Rabbit TDI swap, but I am not sure if I want all the rust that comes with a A1, thats why I was thinking A3. I'll put some more thought into parting it out, then I'll make a list and make an official, FS thread.
I'll have to check out some A3 golfs. I am almost defintly going to buy a golf. Maybe do a Jetta front end conversion so the roots are still there :D

brake jobs are nothing if you have the right tools i did my own on my gli like last year, you just need some vw tool to screw the piston back into the caliper
or a big alum wrench i think

Yeah but I have to redo everything. All new lines, rotors, calipers, pads, shoes and drums.
The thing I originally wanted to do was fix the car up and sell it certified in an attempt to make some money but this car may be to far gone, although the body is in decent condition.
I think this is just too big of a project for the amount of time I can put into it.
