Hey all, just figured I'd throw you guys a line and let you know I'm doing a VR6 swap in my 96 Trek 2.0 hopefully by the end of April. Only if the weather is cooperative, because my second source of transportation while the Jet is gettin it's motor pulled, is my streetbike. Don't really feel like riding that in the rain everyday.
But anyways, I bought the 19,000 mile engine from a friend of a friend who blew the trans and got rear ended, so he's parting out his 1997 VR6 GLX. I bought it from him for 300 bucks, on top of me giving him my old 2.0 for him to put a lot of lightweight/performance components in. He's a machinist, so that's how he gets his kicks. So all I need to do to finish the project, is get a new trans for it... rebuilding would be pointless, as when it blew, all the gears were on the street 8O
So if I can get this posting picture deal up, I'll be sure to include a "step by step" walkthrough on swapping out a VR6 by takin lots of pictures and notes for you guys.
