my oil smells slightly of gas, should i change it? it doesnt look like it really thinned it out i know its from when i had to crank my car like 50 damn times and it wouldnt start.....i dont wanna fug anything up

also im running gl-5 gear oil should i switch out to gl-4

If it was mine, I'd change it, better safe than sorry. If the oil was changed recently, I'd just change the oil and not the filter

k, im gonna change it...hmm should i drop the oil pan or anything and clean out the rest of the oil or will it be all good?

I'm sure your car probably doesnt leak, but at the least the oil pan gasket probably seeps a little bit... Go ahead and pull the oil pan, and clean the crap outta there... It really coulnt hurt anything... I'd definatly change the oil if I were you tho, if it smells like gas.

right now the car leaks zero oil, i just pulled the dipstick out one day and sniffed it...smelled like gas

Does blue smoke come out of your exhaust when you start it? It sounds like it could have bad rings

no the car doenst smoke at all...i know what its from...a week or so ago the car REFUSED to start so i kept cranking it and it dumped a huge amount of gas into the cylinders...all that eventually got into the oil....should i change the oil filter too its like brand spanking new?

My oil light yelled at me yesterday, it was almost piston dry concerning the oil...Im sorry i neglected to look at it prior to this, but I put in 3 quarts of Mobil 1 Super-syn 5W-30 in 20 minutes later, How many more quarts of oil should go into it?

you should go with a thicker oil atleast 10w-30 our motors run better with it. are you sure that it was low on oil or if it was low oil pressure? I had low oil pressure if i used a crappy oil filter and thinner oil. I run Mobil 1 syn 15w-50 and an STP oil filter and it runs great. I think its 4.5 quarts to fill it up.
