Alright, so, even though I'm a member of this site... I don't own a Jetta. I don't own ANYTHING. But... I do know that I'm going to get a Jetta when I have the money.

So anyways, what do you guys think of this one:

http://gethyped.net/stevepics/IMG_1334.jpg

I'm sure you'll know more about it that me, it has no price and no stats on it, but from what I can see it's around 1994/1995, 5spd Manual, TDI. The interior looks great but the exterior, although good, isn't perfect. The trim on the drivers side is coming off.

But like, I said, I'm just a poser, I don't know much about cars but I love to drive and I love Jettas. Can anyone help me out with some guidance on this? I might be coming into $5,000 CDN sometime so, assuming this one is still on the lot and at a decent price I'll probably take it for a test drive and see what I think from there.

TDIs are nice cars from what I hear (I wish I could afford one). That engine should last you an extremly long time if you take care of it. They are also pretty speedy. Check www.autotrader.ca for prices.

Defintly nothing wrong with learning about the car you want to buy before you buy it. 8) or being a poser as you call it.

I just went to the dealership a little while back, they just got the car in on Saturday so they haven't been able to put it through the garage and add $2,000 to the price. But anyways, the sales person is going to call me tomorrow, I'm just hoping it's not too much. Hah, I don't even have enough money to buy a car, I'm just browsing and wishing.

Thats what I do alot, wishful thinking. I just like to know how much stuff is worth so when I do buy, I know I'm not getting ripped.

But anyways, another TDI guy... great... damn diesels... jk. If you want to know anything about diesels go to "Mr. Diesel" or "Gotturbo", they are diesel heads... well Diesel is... sam is just his disciple.

If you do get that car in the picture, point out that the trim is coming off and demand $500 off the price.

TDIs are nice man, that looks like a nice car.
But about the year, I'm pretty sure that's a 1996-1998 car. I'm pretty sure they didn't put out that grill until then.

I have never driven a TDI VW before, but have seen tons around here where I live. Only thing that scares me about a TDI is the smell. I drove a 26,000 pound International diesel around for my old job (horrid, terrible memories) Everytime I smell diesel it reminds me of those bad experiences... But anyway, I am sure they are nice cars. Have you guys seen the 320 hp TDI Touareg?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this car is going to be way out of my price range. I'm so poor right now, I'll have around $1500 Canadian fairly soon, and then I need to find some more work (I'm a webpage designer) or sell some stuff I don't need until I've got some $4,000 or so.

I'd have a car already, but a local company ripped me off so badly this year... $2,400 to be exact. So I'm still recovering from that blow.

I'm assuming I'll probably just be getting an older Jetta, early 90s or so, but the only ones I've seen at the lot are a bit rusty and pretty bagged. I'll just have to keep looking until I have the grub to pay for one of them.

Of course, the amount of work I can do is drastically limited by school, I'm away from home until 4:00PM in which case I eat, check my email and browse the internet until I usually have to pick up one of my family members from somwhere or talk with one of my clients, after dinner I have like 1-2 hours I can work for until I have to start my homework

Ugh, If anyone wants to give me $5,000 that'd be great :P

I'm pretty sure that the TDIs don't smell like the old diesels do/did. I could also use $4000, as there is a beautiful scorocco I want to buy..just in case anyone wins the lottery some time soon.

The TDI will smell like a old diesel upon first starting it sometimes but other than that you cant smell it... The TDI is a great engine I would highly recommend buying one. Mine has 140,000 on it and is still running strong.

Well, the salesperson from Volkswagen never did phone me... but I see an ad for the car and it's $16,750... wow, that's... extremely high. I could go get a 2002 for around that price... But then again, I thought it was only a 1994 but it's a 1999 Jetta GL.
