I have been reading up on a lot of reviews lately about different models, I already have a Gateway DMP-x20, featured in the picture. 20GB hard drive, remote, MP3 and WMA files are supported. I have listened to some of the IPOD's out there, and honesty the Gateway sounds a tad better. I like the functionality of the Ipod, I just don't dig the white factor, even the white buttons on the Mini models. However I have found a place that will color an existing Ipod for $50.00, or you can buy one direct from them for $50.00 over retail. Anyhow, anyone who is into this stuff post what you recommend. :)

I also purchased this unique item just out of curiousity: A mp3 player built into a watch. With a wopping 32mb, loading maybe 4 or 5 songs on it. But I have to say that it actually sounds decent for the size, most people can't believe that it plays music.

What exactly is a mini disc player? I've seen them and kind of understand them but not as much as I would like to.
I own 2 MP3 players, a Iomega and different one. Neither of them work, (I think the Iomega needs new disks) and the other one's screen is shot.

A mini disc player is just like a MP#, you transfer the songs from your computer to your MD player..VIA usb, you can change discs etc. Here is a link for a new sony MD player to give you an idea!

I have never used a MD player before, I like knowing that I can have my entire music collection in my pocket. Also, found this at Best Buy today, a 20GB hard drive that plays all the music formats, also allows transfer of video files! It can hold around 4-5 DVD movies. Also has an external speaker if you don't feel like plugging in head phones. Check out the IRiver link under the pic. 8)

Also for the Ipod fans out there: This site will color your Ipod for $50 if you have one of the white ones. The one pictured below is just one of many different choices. You can buy a pre-colored Ipod from them for $50 over list, or send yours in and have it done.

And yet another: Sony's new 20GB player. Only drawback here I have seen is that it utilizes it's own music format. From what I understand you will need to convert your WMA or MP3's with their software.

I've heard good things about IRiver, and I like the size (gigabytes) of Ipods.
Thanks WishingforSpeed, that site was handy and I understand now :D
I think a MD might be in my future.

If you can fit your entire music collection on 20 GB, there's something wrong... but that's coming from me, I work in a CD store part time... I have 600 CDs... but yea...

600 cd's?!?! Wow man, I don't think I have over 150 or so. I have used around 7GB on the Gateway DMP-x20 I have, still have plenty to fill. Have you seen the 40GB Ipods?

I have 10 gigs of MP3s and about 30 cds.
If I worked at a CD store I'm sure I would have alot more cds.

eh I only have around 550 songs..all on my computer, I don't by CD's waste of money. I do like the quality from the real CD's though.

Hey, speaking of Ipods and the like, has anyone heard about FreeIPods.com?
It's actually not a scam, I know people on campus near me that already have their Ipods. The company actually makes money from each referal.
This is what you do:
Click this link, so I get referal credit ;)
http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=9865041
Then you sign up for something with a free trial, I signed up for the Blockbuster thing. I get a free 2 week trial, and 2 free movie rentals. All I hafta do is stay an active member for 2 weeks, and then cancel my membership before they start charging me for a full membership.
This is guaranteed to work. I've already referred 2 people, but I need 3 more. Then they just send you your IPod in the mail.
Thanks a bunch to anyone who let's me refer them :)

I have a 10gb iPod and I love it. Its very easy to use, and you get massive amounts of storage for the price(although I still want more space). My only concern is the battery life. I've read that the battery can PERMANENTLY die in a couple years, and it is a PITA to replace, not to mention risky. Besides that, it is awesome.
