Hey, I've got a 97 jetta gt and yesterday I went in to have a compustar 2WFM-AS alarm installed....

Now my signal lights don't work at all and the whipers are screwed up too.. if I put it on intermitant it goes on the normal speed and on any speed I put it on, the whipers will stop right where they are when I turn them off... before they would finish the whipe before stopping... any ideas on what could be wrong?

The installer is completely baffled... and I can't get an appt at VW for a week, and they are usually pretty stuborn about having aftermarket alarms and stuff anyway, I'd like to get it fixed without them...

Thanks
-Ben-

Um... the installer should definitely fix that, they obviously messed up the wiring somewhere. Hold your ground, they should fix it.

Definitly have them recheck the wiring. That is their fault and they should have to fix it.

Dude, that's BS. Any shop that causes problems should have to pay for their mistake. At the least you should threaten to sue if he doesnt pick up your repair bill.... IT'S HIS FAULT, and you would win in small claims court.

He wired it wrong. I bet he tapped the wrong wire for a light flash.

He needs to re-do it.

The wiper thing is wierd; he must have pinched a wire with a screw, or pulled a connector loose at the fuse panel.
I have seen hackers put a screw right through a harness before.

Not pretty. :x

first off never take your car to an alarm shop and let them install it... buy it there in the box and take it too a VW shop or PRO these cars are not at all hard to wire up but you must have a competent worker reading wire diagrams and NOT cutting wires... most slice in and maybe solder it in... bad VW/Audis dont take well to solder supposedly changes the resistance value even over crimping claims resistance... i always use clamp wire connectors and then tape everything to hide the wires from theives... they proablly cut your starter wire too...

did your car have the stock alarm too?

that should be by passed for a better aftermarket install... but the stock VW alarm is great and well stock and wired in... the wipers deal... dumb ass probally cut the wrong wires behind the ignition tring to get to the stater wires... i bet you could do a better job with a few weeks time and instructions...

PS SUE!!!
