What the hell? It has a good layout, seems like a decent website, and it's about VW's. Why so dead?

I have a few theories:
1. Most of the posts on here are informational and educational. Because of this, the drama (and therefore, entertainment) factor go way down. A quick look at the site's statistical information shows hundreds, sometimes thousands of unique visitors each day... Most of them looking for an answer to a specific problem, yet not looking to join a forum and participate in the discussions. And that's fine... they click on ads.
2. Slow. The site is slower than some competing sites. The hosting we are on now is all I can afford. We are kind of caught in a nasty cycle there... no money for advertising or faster hosting and not enough traffic to sell a good amount of ad space.
3. The main contributors have died down (including me). Most of the main contributors will respond if there is something worth responding too, but few create good/new content.
I am totally happy and content with the site now... I wish it could take off, but there is a lot of documentation that has helped thousands of people... and if nothing else consider this a piece of the volkwagen knowledge pie. The info in here will eventually become obsolete and Dubnet will probably die with it. I have considered the possibilities of somehow merging with another forum, but have yet to figure out how or who.
Thanks for your patronage and interest in Dubnet. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just as Mr Diesel mentioned.
Seems those of us that have the knowledge hang back in the wings till there is a question posted we can help with.
The amount of time I have dedicated to surfing has been cut way down for posting new threads. I've had to just reply to others.
Mr Diesel. Something to consider.
I have my build thread on this site and in my sig on pretty much every other forum I frequent to aid in the traffic coming here.
I've received a couple comments on the pics not showing up as I posted almost all my original pics on the first posting board and now don't show on the thread.
I've attempted to replace them as I come across them but there are still some missing. Then the replacement pic hosting you found has done the same thing. Kinda a bummer to take the time to post up pics to have them disappear later.
Maybe you should just put in a link to Photobucket or something as a suggestion for pic posting.
I'm actually kinda glad he posted this thread. This site is very well set up and does look professional (i can see mr_diesel's head growing). Another part as to why it's slower is because there's not a lot of modders on this site. A lot of us are either big haulovers or average joes (or less than average like myself) who just want to keep their car running.

Well I am sorry, but this is actually quite upsetting. As well as this Forum is setup, it needs the attention it deserves. I am going to go to Vortex and golfmkv.com and spread the word.

I'm sure we would all love to see this site grow.
Do what you can for sure, maybe we just need some new blood to get us old farts posting more?
