Need some performance upgrades for our 2002 Jetta 1.8T auto.
Give me some options for getting some good pump gas performance without breaking the bank or my wallet

what are you looking to spend? Not breaking the wallet to me would be a cold air intake lol You can get an intake off ebay or one of these auto parts warehouse places for like 60 bucks. I wouldnt waste your money on a K&N if youre trying to save money because honestly I think you might be paying for the shiny finish and the cool stickers in the box. The intakes you get that are like non brand name or whatever are the same design right? larger intake diameter and a more efficient filter type to allow more air to pass through. so yah, intake probably, and if you want some more bang id also tell you to some required maintenance on your car such as oil and oil filter change, change the fuel filter, go to jiffy lube and havem clean your fuel lines, and you can replace your spark plugs with some better than stock plugs, and all these will actually gain horsepower that youll lose with an old car because nobody keeps up with it ya know. hope i didnt ramble too much and kinda helped.

its best to check for ebay first, and also on some online stores that sell car parts...that way you could compare some of its prices so that it wouldnt hurt your budget. :)

Hi Cycleeric,
The best way to improve without braking the bank on a Jetta would be upgrade Cold Air intake, Exhaust, Spark Plugs(Iridium, Copper). I have a boosted out Jetta and quick upgrades without braking the bank so exhaust for future upgrades and cold air intake. If you get your Jetta Chipped and dyno'ed you'll be pushing roughly 200 HP at the wheels and still do 25mpg on the city and 32 on the highway.
Here is a website that might help you look for upgrades.
