I have a 95 Jetta engine that I bought complete from a junkyard. I an going to swap it into my 83 GTI, but keep the original cylinder head and injection system to keep things simple.

Has anyone done this swap before? I would like to know any info about what parts are necessary to do the swap. I allready know that I will need a different headgasket, breather block off plate, and taller downpipe. But if there is anything else that could help the swap go smoothly I would appreciate it. I need as little downtime as possible.

you might as well try to get the fuel system, it might be more complex to mich match parts. and just tear everything out and reinstall everything in 1 shot.

you might as well try to get the fuel system, it might be more complex to mich match parts. and just tear everything out and reinstall everything in 1 shot.It's actually quite easier to do just the bottom end swap and leave the current fuel system etc in.That way you don't have to get a whole donor car and swap the mk1 over to ce2.I say if you have the money and patience for it go full ce2 and get a whole mk3 donor car but if you don;t want your car off the road for long get the 2.0 block build up all the other parts you need like the block off plate from neuspeed etc and drop it all in 1 day depending on how automotive inclined you are
