I am just wondering if it is possible to dye (bleach/paint) my trim and side moldings etc. I am thinking that I want to paint my car a nice red, then die all the moldings/trim white and a white top windsheild sun blocker thing. I would buy white mud guards too. I think that it would look pretty sweet. What do you guys think? Is this even possible? I was thinking that if I do this I would put some nice MK3 style taillights on it too. I don't know what I would do with the bumpers, but I guess white would look best.
Anyways some input please guys.
Thanks

i painted my trim and bumpers. no prob and it looks nice and is lasting. but what you have to do. is clean it with rubbing alcohol to open the pores in the plastic and to remove any grease and junk. then get kyron fusion. its paint made for plastic, it will run you a bit but if you want it to fade or chip off don't be cheap and buy this stuff, apply 2 coats and youll be fine. but since your going to paint it white you might want to either use plastic primer or just put on 3 coats or more if needed. about bleaching i dunno. it might cuase chemical burns on the plastic.

OK great thanks. Nice to know it's possible. What about my grill? Can that be painted?

I'll probably take the trim and stuff off since I plan on painting the car, any suggestions for removing the trim and then putting it back on? I have some black stuff around my windows, not trim or anything, you can kind of see it in this picture, any suggestions on what to do here?

If you look at the support between the doors you'll see what I mean.

Kiwi is pretty much a wax. Turtle wax would work the same, but it's not lasting... Mabey 1 or 2 months before you notice the fading. Peanut butter cause it has oils in it... A REAL cheap alternative to armor-all is vegetable oil. Vegie oil will eventually become greasy and ugly if you don't wash it off with soap/water/scrub brush when you wash the car, other than that, vegie oil is totally safe, and easy to do... Just apply it with a sponge or a grease rag or something... Kryon fusion is probably your best long term solution... I'd just paint them black and get it over with.

This idea, as well as the whole car is on one of my many back burners. I'm focusing my energy on buying a Rabbit. I will proably dye these ones black since I am probably selling the car one day (once it's fixed up).
