The reason I posted this is becaue I was unaware such gains could be acheived without sacrificing mileage. How's this possible? Wheres the drawback?

Don't you think that VW would make that equipment standard on TDI's if there were no fuel mileage losses, it DIDNT harm the motor, and caused a 30% increase in torque and HP?
I'd be weary of something that makes that claim.

Yeah thats a good point. But then would that mean that mods like an air filter and exhaust are also bad for the engine? Up to a point they increase HP and fuel efficiency right?

Intakes and Exhausts are like the way they are for noise purposes. With a free flowing exhuast and intake comes LOTS of noise. To reduce noise, there is a slight obstruction in the flow of air. If you want more performance, and you resort to those mod's then you sacrifice that for a noisy car. Plus intake and exhaust have been prooven (billions of times) that it doesnt harm the engine, and in some cases makes the motor run better.
That statement is strictly based upon the opinions of the company that made the product, where it supports no facts.
It's like that tornado intake thing... Put this in your intake, and get 10% increase in power and fuel mileage. It does not work. Period.
This device modifies your timing and fuel usage to make more power. Fuel mileage will suffer. Bigtime. The increased emissions will likely throw a code or.... 4 and probably clog the cat/soot trap.
If the company didnt go to lengths as to lie about what it's device does, I might have some sort of opinion to recommend the product... But the way this company words it's advertisement, it's probably wise to stay away from it and avoid dammaging your car.
