I took some more off my car today, but I ran into a little problem. How do I remove the rad from the rad support? It's a 85. I have it all out of the car but the 2 peices are stuck together. I'm not sure if the rad is suppose to slide out or something but I can not figure it out. Thanks

If you are in an a2, there is an entire assembly that the radiator sits in. It's that large metal pice that the headlights mount into, along with the hood latch, and crap. There are 2 bolts above the headlights, 2 bolts below the headlight, and a big bolt in the middle at the bottom... that must be unbolted to get the radiator in.

Yeah I got all that junk out, but I can not get the rad and the rad support (the big thing you are talking about) apart. It kind of looks like a bar slides into the rad but that it all rusted together and this is what is holding it all together. It's the one bolt on the top of the rad support that attatches to the rad in a sort of "L" shape metal bar. This is the bar that looks like it should slide into and out of the rad.

lol when i changed the consenser i had to get that baby off...
take the rubber piece out of there, slips out maybe use some lubricant, and get some pliers and bend it straight
and it will lift off, when putting it back on be sure to bend it back and put the rubber back on!!

Unless mine is a factory defect, the rubber thing doesn't come off. I would have to cut it off because of the way it is fastened together, trust me I tried. But if it has to be done, I'll cut it off (but in a way I can put it back on). I couldn't really see bending that metal thing to get it off, but if you say so that's what I'll do.

I'm only cutting the rubber thing. and its because the part on top of the metal piece and the part on the bottom are joined together in two places. It's hard to explain but I got this.
Thanks alot :D
