My speedometer on my 1985 Jetta doesn't work but the tachometer does work. I am 99% sure that this means that my speedo cable is good as there are no other connections to the back of my cluster. I just bought a new cluster today and was planning on just switching the speedometer out of the new cluster into my old cluster. My quesion is this, how do I hook up the odometer to a drill so I can lower the mileage on my new speedmeter to that of the old speedometer so that I can have an accurate reading. I don't want to make my mileage lower then it is, I just want it to read what it truly is.
