I am doing a lot of body work to my car at the moment. I have some rust spots to grind out but the problem is some of them are in pretty small areas and it is hard for me to get my big grinder in there. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what I could use to get rid of the rust.
My second question is, once I get rid of the rust ( on the floor, underbody, and inside the fenders) should I use "black asphalt undercoating"? It is a rubberized, brushable tar like substance used for soundproofing and sealing and protecting metals.
the steps I will be taking (unless someone says otherwise) will be
1) grind the rust out
2) patch if necessary
3) apply a rust stop primer
4) either paint to match my current car color (until I can afford to get it professionally painted)
OR
apply the undercoating listed above
I have never done any of this before so before I destroy me Jetta maybe someone can help me out.
Thanks alot guys
