Donations?

An idea occured to me...ok, more like idea theft...

I used to be part of a large mountain biking forum. As I am sure you have noticed, running a forum of any significant size takes time and money.

In order to accomodate this, the site owner implemented a donation system, which was roughly as follows:
For a period of one year after a donation made by a member (via Paypal), the members' status was promoted. They were ranked as a Donating member, their Private Messaging capacity was up'd, and you had extra options with the buy/sell forum, mainly the ability to highlight and bump your post to make it stand out.

Perhaps, as a way to help offset the cost of running and maintaining the site, a donating system should be looked into?

I thought about doing something like that... To be completely honest, I think the time/money is well spent as long as people can use it and benefit from it. But, I would be foolish to turn down any help from members that are willing. Dubnet has a paypal address:
