You heard it right folks... I'm be ridding the Mercedes, and going back to the Jetta. I found a 2 door jetta coupe that overheated, and the head cracked and died... So I am gonna take this 1.8L 8V motor (complete) and stick it in there, and I'll be back in the game... I severely miss my Jetta's, and I could'nt resist buying this one. Like said, it's a 1991 Jetta 2 Door, with a 5 speed tranny 1.8L 8V engine (dead) digifant II. Anyway, they want 300 bucks for it, so I am gonna go pick it up today....

BTW, sam... Do you think I could store it in your storage shed for a month or so?

It aint much to look at right now.... The passenger side fender must be swapped off an old piece of crap jetta cause it's all rusted and crap, but the rest of the car is surprisingly in good shape... It needs:

1. Radiator
2. Cylinder Head
3. Maf Sensor.
4. Tires

The whole reason the car is dead is because the chick that owned it before drove it with a crack in the radiator... I already took the cylinder head off. The block is actually not cracked. The crankshaft movies freely. The entire car is awesome except for the aboved named... So I am going to take the cyl head off that engine in the garage, and see if I can't get that done this week...

By the way, I just noticed how FREAKING HUGE the doors on this thing are... Dude, you could fit a cow in through the window on this thing!!! I can't believe it. I really can't!!!! 8O 8O 8O 8O I've got some big plans for this little Euro Coupe. I'm already trying to find a TDI or a 1.9L TD (from canada).... I think I am going to avoid the 1.6TD's... I need a bigger powerplant.... But yeah, I am totally psched I found a 91' 2 door..... That's kinda what I was holding out for.... To boot, the peeps I bought it from were just trying to get rid of it... We negotiated on 300 dollars for it, but when I went to pick it up she's like, we'll just take 100 and call it even! 100 bucks. Pictures to come soon... I'll give you a step by step process of this cars life...

It does appear as though the window is having some slight troubles when trying to roll it up... Kinda like it's come off one of it's tracks... Any ideas? This window is in fact HUGE... It's like 3 windows in one.

Update:

1. New cylinder head has been removed from the motor in the garage.
2. Process of tearing apart the Jetta has begun.

I took the valve cover and crap off. I had to go buy a T-55 Torx socket to get those headbolts off, and that little beast was 9 DOLLARS! Anyway, got the headbolts off the cyl head on the Jetta... All I need to figure out is how to remove the downpipe from the exhuast manifold! I have never done this on a 1.8L 8V, and I was hoping for some input. I know very little about the details on these gassers... Anybody that has done this, and input would be appreciated.

yeeeeeah, another coupe owner. that rocks, especially one so high up on the food chain at dubnet. i agree with your previous statement of kicking all the 4door owners off. coupes are the way of the future (and unfortunately a thing of the past)

Okay, the head is installed and fully put back together.... I just found out the starter is shot, so that's next on the list... I did manage to get it started, and there was absolutly no power whatsoever.... Really..... ZERO torque.... The car would not build up above 3,000rpm either. I don't know much about gasoline engines, but mabey you guys can help me.

1. Could this be a result of the timing being off?
2. Clogged injectors? These injectors had water/oil on them when I removed them from the car.
3. Multiple cylinder misfires? Spark plugs?
4. Compression?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

all i have to say is it seems kinda wierd for diesel to be asking questions about cars. given it is a gas, but still...
