I have a 79 Civic cvcc HB [hondamatic] and it looks very similar to the 77:

except my hood vents look better :)

You think I'd be able to drop that 1.6L Turbo Diesel Engine into it without too much headache? I don't mind doing some body work to get it in there, but I don't want to have to anything too major to the body cause I'd like to keep the original body intact as much as possible. I don't know a whole lot about chassis conversions/swaps, so I was hoping for a little insight.

I know it's a crazy idea to put a VW diesel into a Honda, but what the hell right? :D

Well, I just had to sign up to check this out. :)

I have an 81 Rabbit Pickup that could really use the complete 1.6L TD. So more info would be nice.

You say it runs. Any idea how many miles on it or compression or anything?

Does all accesories include A/C or at least the mounting bracket? I'm hoping for the rotary (Sankyo I believe) compressor. Had one in an 81 4 door that was quite chilly.

I better get in line.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the complete diesel engine has been sold to a local friend.... sorry guys.

The 90a alternator is a serpentine alternator setup... you'd need to do the serpentine conversion. (you'd need the ac compressor or ac delete pulley and the serpentine bracket) I have the bracket, not the compressor.

The 1.6L TD long block is still here :D

MR. DIESEL, just wondering how good this 1.6td long block is, you say minus turbo.
I desperately need a 1.6td for my rabbit.
Presently it has a rod stuck through the side of the block.
Also wondering if this is a true td motor not a na that someone did a swap on.
Thanks 82 bunny

It's in running condition, but I don't have compression results. You should just be able to drop it in and drive it, but if I were me, I would rebuild it.

Is it possible for you to ship this, if yes then how much would it cost from there to here. I live near eugene oregon.
Thanks

I may be able to assist there. I have trucks going to Portland allot, I could see about putting it on one of them and you could give the driver say $100.00 or so in cash and your golden..
They are mainly flat beds/ Hot shots. Hot Shots are pickups with a flatbed trailer behind them BTW.

Mr diesel, I saw that you might of had the complete 1.6td sold, just wondering if it was for sure. If so would you send me some pics of long block minus turbo, and maybe a quick list of the things it might need to make it run again. Thanks again.
