When I'm barely moving, I cut the wheel hard (to get out of parking spaces, turning around, etc) and it is extremely difficult, not to mention the banshee that awakes and screams to high hell. is this just a problem with the belts or something more?

your belt could be worn or frayed, or it could just not be tight enough.

Yep, it turns out that the belt was stretched to the point of no return, so I brought it by the dealership and they replaced it on the spot, free of charge. It's like a whole new car now! It is a lot more responsive all-around. I love it even more now :) haha

So, what are your plans with the beast?

First of all, I'm going to upgrade the sound system because all I have is a tapedeck and I can't stand it. haha. Second, I'd like some brighter headlights, I'll probably go with some PIAAs. Then, to top it off, some 17" rims and probably some neons under the dash. I'm pretty happy with the stock look overall.

I will outfit it with an intake and exhaust, and I'll probably stop there.
who knows? haha

I really like PIAA's however there is better out there, as a matter a fact I still have probably 15-20 PIAA bulbs lying around in my shed, 2 complete Relay harness for headlights etc etc and I run the lights below.

I've bought about 8 sets from them to date and they rock.
I think there are some before/after pics in my gallery (DubHost) as to the difference in the Halogen and HID's.

Be sure to pony up and get the Bi-Xenon ones, give you low and high beam. Then if you really want good lights get some E Codes for your Cabbie or some projectors which would be best with the HID set up.

I'm stoked to hear you like the stock look of the car. Obviously there are a few points that need some love... like the rims and a few of the accessories, like the lighting and what not. It makes me happy when somebody says they like the stock style. Why fix what VW made perfect?

When I bought the car, I already loved the way it looked. I don't need to do anything to it to make it hot, it already is! It would be nice to ****e it up with some originality though. I ordered my head unit today. (Pioneer DEH 4000UB) I should get it tomorrow or tuesday. Hoo-RAY!

Well, I got my head unit about a week ago and I brought it over to my brother-in-law's so he could help me install it. I thought it would be a 15 minute job. I did most of it over at my place and then drove it over when he got home from work. The rest was just wiring and all that nonsense. Next thing I knew, we were ripping the dashboard apart and it wound up taking us over three hours when all was said and done. It worked out for him because he just bought a 98 jetta GLS (he already has a 93 Mustang and an EVO VIII). So when he goes to install his head unit/sound system, he'll already have a warm fuzzy on what to do with it. At least it was like 75 out that day. lol I definitely had the top down! :D

Dude... I hear you there. I tore into a 96 BMW 328i to install a kenwood head unit and infinity subs. Come to find the head unit sends a LOW low voltage signal to an amplifier in the trunk (for each separate channel). In this BMW it had 6 different channels. So that's 12 wires, plus 12v power, ground and remote. Needless to say the kenwood was not compatible with the bmw amp. A simple 1 hour stereo install turned into an entire weekend of running new wires to each speaker!!!! Pain in the ass, man. Anyways, good to hear it's all working good now. :)

Well you should try a Pioneer Z2 into a MK2.

2 Sat antenna's
Blue tooth module
XM Module
About 300 damn wires
Now I have to run some new wires to the doors as I'm going to add speakers there now and while I'm there I'll be adding the lock/unlock solenoids to each door for the key-less entry and alarm ALSO I'll be swapping the dash out for one that's not cracked and thinking about putting in a new heater core while I have the dash off so I know it's good and wont have to do that again anytime soon...
Then while I have the stereo out I want to moutn my FUBA antenna and I need to drop the headliner to do so.

I can see a ENTIRE weekend just because I need to run some speaker wires.

Talk about a cluster....

I'm getting a 2GB thumb drive today to throw some music on. My new head unit is compatible with iPod, USB, and it reads MP3 CDs. Well, my iPod sh.. the bed a few months ago, the cd burner on my comp got ruined from all the damn sand over in iraq, so I'm going for option 3 today. I'm expecting it to offer me affordability, flexability, and portability. I'm crossing my fingers on this one. I have a black cloud that follows me around everywhere when it comes to this stuff...

Well, I got a 2GB firefly thumb drive for about $12 and put 33 CDs worth of music onto it. It works like a dream and sure beats having to switch cds in and out. I am working on getting a Western Digital MyPassport 320GB portable hard drive. That would be the bomb-diggity. That would hold 5200 cds or so. lol thats a lot of effin music. the 320 Gig one costs about $180, so I'm going to have to wait. Besides, I can change the music thats on my firefly out whenever I want. Sure beats burning CDs!

That's one thing the Z series is missing, a USB port.
That would rock. In order to save music to the drive I have to have it in CD/ MP3 format.

Bump. Cool. I am as well looking forward to install a new antenna in my Jetta. BTW, where could I find a power antenna mast or an antenna module? I have a nice setup of speakers and radio.
