View Full Version : Good DIY clutch/flywheel for 12v VR6

It's almost the exact same for the 24v too, but this one is specific to the 12v. I was thinking of getting a stage 2 clutch/flywheel kit from Autotech and found this. I figured it'd be helpful for others as well.

Totally... that pretty much covers everything for a Mark 4 12V... There are minor differences for B3/Mark 3. The one thing I would do different, is I just use a wrench to hold the flywheel in place. Don't waste the time with the coat hanger. I just get one of the main trans/block bolts and put it through the box end side of the wrench, thread it into the block a little bitThen the open side against the stud in the flywheel. Or... just use an impact wrench to buzz them off, then use the wrench to torque the down. :-D

I agree, the coat hangar's a bit ghetto and I'd prefer to do it with something else. Sometimes ya just have to work with what ya got :)
