Anyone know anything about the 944's? Are they any good, do they cost a lot to have fixed? Are they fun to drive?

Those older Porsche's are hella expensive to fix... I was looking at a 911 Targa. 1977. It's incredible. It runs, but needs the engine rebuilt. For oversized pistons to have the blocked bored out is VERY pricy... It needs 6 pistons, and they were about 700/piece... Or atleast they were where I looked. It all depends on the deal you get at purchase.... This one was 3500 bucks, but needed 6 grand worth of work just to get it on the road... If I had an appropriatly paying job I would definatly get an older Porsche.

fun to drive but hard to maintain. not enough fun to compensate the cost.
just my two cents.

944's are a bit more forgiving than the other Porsche models when repairs are considered. If it's a fast(er) car you want, then definitely find something else... like a GTI VR6 or a M3 BMW or something like that. If your heart is set on a Porsche, this is a great entry level Porsche, but don't count on it being the cheapest to own and maintain.
