Friday (04/02) is going to be a great day for my A2 jetta...

First, i get my wheel bearings fixed so my car doesn't make a grinding noise every time i turn.

Second, my speedometer tends to make a ticking noisethat gets louder and more annoying with an increase in speed, bought a new speedometer cable.

Third, H&R coilovers go on

Fourth, ABD short shift goes on

and Fifth, sway bar goes on.

Sooooo happy!

that's awesome. say, how much is it gonna run you for the bearings to get replaced, mine's got the same problem.

Bearings are about 30-40 bucks, then about 1 hour labor... your looking at 170-250 to have both sides replaced.

yep! I've been quoted from $140-$270... going with the $140, obviously.

is it possibly a do-it-yourselfer? or even with the help of a friend or two, or should it be professionally done?

i would recommend professionally done, it's a pretty complicated thing... unless you buy the whole hub and not just the bearings.

Vwpartsplace outta michigan sells the entire hub with the wheel bearing pressed in, so you can do it... But no, YOU CANNOT install the bearing yourself, unless you have a bearing press.
