Hey guys, waz up?
So I finally got myself a VW, and i'm loving it.
2001 Jetta, only 30,xxx miles

So i've been here for a while but kinda just as a spectator since i didn't have a car. I guess you could say i've been an enthusiast for i while, but I still don't know much.

I know this car has a 2.0 liter engine, but i was wondering what specs you guys could tell me. Power lvls? Mpg? anything i should watch out for with these cars?

-thanx

Sweet, grats on the new car.

As far as specs go, you'll have about 115 crank hp, 122 crank torque.
Should get 25 mpg or so in the city, 30+ on the highway.

Do regular maintenance and oil changes and that engine will last you well past 200,000 miles, trust me =]

Thanx for the info. I don't really have any money as of now to do anything to the car (nor do i really want to do anything drastic) but are there any little things that can be done cheaply to just really make the car more peppy or fun to drive? I know you can modify the air box and get a high flow filter, but is there really anything else?

-Thanx in advance

Depends how much you are willing to do to your car.

I started modding my old 2.0 with just an intake, and before I knew it I was adding cams and swapping heads. (not to mention the turbo install =D)

Swapping heads might be a bit drastic, but cam work isn't too bad. Also, intakes and exhausts are generally easy bolt-ons to add a bit more power.

Oh, and chips are easy too and have reasonable gains. I did this to my old 2.0 before I turboed and there were some noticeable gains for sure =]
