Dubnet is undergoing some big changes to the categories. No posts will be deleted, but they will probably be moved to a better category. Please be patient while we make this change. Until then the categories may seem very unorganized and messy. I will send out a mailer notifying everybody of the changes when this is done. I estimate this will be done sometime today.
Thanks,
Mr. Diesel

Man... I have spent all day brain storming trying to figure out ways to improve dubnet... Everything was getting so complicated and cluttered I decided to just revert back to basics. That's what this forum is. A BASIC forum. Dedicated to the point with less clutter from advertisements. As you can see the site as it exists now is about as simple as it gets. I am goign to try to ADD a bar to the side that will help us keep track of new posts. Before it was a full portal system and you had to navigate a maze of links to find the forum you wanted. This time, I will add "Recent Posts" to the forum and not vice versa.
Any comments, ideas or opinions on the design and how you think we should proceed would be GREATLY appreciated. Now is the time to let me know... Changes made over the next few days will outline the Dubnet to come.
Thanks For your Patronage,
Mr. Diesel

I think things look fairly simplified, but I would possibly work on making the site more customized in terms of its looks. Right now it just looks like a basic vBulletin site with a few updated graphics.
I also noticed that there just doesn't seem to be a lot of activity. In the Mk3 forums there are only about 4-5 threads that have been active within the last 2 months.
Maybe instead of overhauling the site you could work on promoting it? With only 38 active members (meaning they have logged on in the previous 90 days) out of 500ish registered members, I think your activity levels should concern you more. Just a friendly thought from one forum administrator (http://forums.projektgerman.com/) to another. ;)

Yeah... there is lots to do. I like the suggestions. Do you have msn messenger? Lets collaborate.

While this is true, ease-of-use will also bring back new members, which essentially helps both scenarios.

I use AIM more regularly. Don't have it installed at work though. You can email me at mike@subtilecommunication.com though. Otherwise the best time to catch me will be at night.

True, I'm just saying that this needs to be a two-pronged approach. IMO, things are pretty simple to navigate here and the forums seem well-organized. You can continue to work on that, but you've also got to go out there and get your users back, all while continuing to promote the site to encourage new users. As you bring in more members (both old and new), activity should increase.
Like I mentioned in my original post, I think there just needs to be a bit more customization on this site so that when a user hits it, they think, "I am on DubNetworks," not, "What was this site called?" and then they log off and forget about it. The branding for the forums is just as important as the forums themselves as far as I'm concerned.

Try it now... I was setting up permissions. I didn't want to allow everybody to delete what they wanted ;)... It's up and working now... It just needs a visual theme to go with Dubnet... Working on that tonight.

It looks pretty slick. How much customization can you do to that skin? Also, do members have to register to the gallery? Or do they use their same login information as they do for the site?
Keep up the good work. Maybe one of these days we can talk on AIM. :)

It's seperate to dubnet... different databases. Maybe one day I can integrate that. Once registered users have 50mb of storage space and unlimited transfer. If users need more than 50mb all they have to do is plead their case to me;) No watermarks and linking capability.
Anyway... I my damn STARTER went out on my diesel jetta tonight, so I won't be photoshopping any graphics goodies tonight... Maybe tomorrow night.
