has anyone topped out their car?? if so what model, how fast, and how long did it take?? ive personally have never been able to get past 126mph in my 03 wolfsburg. but i guess thats all because i didnt have enough time and not to mention i start getting the constant fear that a pig is going to pull me over.

well most people say the limiter on the mkIV are at 132 - 136 thats the range i herd it kicks in at, i juss want to know it anyone has an mkIV in which they hit the limmiter.

ran my jetta up to 100mph just screwing around, it felt pretty damn solid too, no shimmy or shakes :)

i got up to 90 in 4 blocks then i had a stop sign and layed on the brakes so it was only like 3 blocks cuz i barley made the stop sign. with 2 other people in the car 2. if it was just me i could of gone faster but 300-400 extra pounds puts a damper on the car. but i maxed out on the high way at 120, cuz that is what my spedo goes to. then i layed off the gas, it took forever thou! thank *** for I95! speed limit 100 lol << eh i guess its an east cost thing

just don't do what i did and push the car too far, thats how i lost my car. Either i hit some road trash or my cv joint just exploded, either way there was an explosion and it took out a bunch of **** under the hood, the damage that i could see just from under the hood and looking under the car without jacking it up was an either warped or moved exaust manifold, a HUGE hole in the cv joint, some wires and random metal shards mixed with grease all over the place, and the lights on one side of my car didn't work, headlight worked, but blinker and running lights were out.

both CV's are not that old on my car, the guy that owned it before me had them replaced a few years ago, perhaps 30,000 miles are on them

hit 110 the other day and it didnt shake at all, quite happy with that! I havent tried to top it out after i got my suspension so i want to see what it can do now!

i dunno. what's the conversion from kmph to mph? my speedo only has kmph on it. so 155 is the max in KMPH. so nobody get fooled by the high number.

My top speed ever is tied between 2 things,
1) a heliicopter I was flying for a course credit
2) 1990 Mazda MPV minivan. the thing almost shook itself apart. I was going 100 MPH or 160 KM/H. I was late for formal and it was my first weekend with a license. There was about 6 people in the minivan and it is/was in rough shape.

At this time, the car was stock standard. Even the shocks, which I replaced about 2 months ago, which were shot. :oops:

I got my first fine a couple weeks ago, for going 85 mph in a 70... I was pissed, $126.50 was the fine :(

At least they didn't catch me earlier that day when I had it up at 115...

155 kph = 96.31 mph

The fastest time i think i ever made in my jetta was a 58 mile trip in just over 30 min, and about 5 or 6 miles of that was going only 5 over the limit, through city streets, going between 35 and 40 mph.

I have yet to get a speeding ticket. Of course tho, I don't have my jetta on the road and I have only been driving for 1.5 years.
I'm moving to the states. The highest speed limit I have ever seen in Canada was 110 KM/H.

I've done about 105-106MPH on a deserted strip of I-40 inbetween Phoenix and Albuquerque, and hit the triple digit mark a couple times on I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix. Plenty of power to spare, smooth ride, and the only difference between ~90 and 100 is the engine noise getting louder. Luckily I have a good radar detector! P.S. Doing 25+ over speed limit in AZ is a felony, I'd highly not reccomend it.

Radar detectors CAN be detected by cops. Most new detectors have... Detector Detectors in them. (VG cloaking). If your detector doesnt have cloaking, you can be detected...

Hmm... so if I get one of these new ones, and hide it in my dash really good (is that even possible) then i could get away with it? I think its a 1000$ fine and the take it away from you, even if it is still in the box.

There's been people who have had radar detectors installed in their car, the sensors hidden in the bumper/grille area and the display in the car can be hidden. Most radar dectors are invisible to VG2 detection, however there's a new radar detector detector system that no commercially available radar detector has been proven invisible to.

When my car was an 8V, I maxxed it out at 115 mph with a slight tailwind. Just after the VR6 conversion was completed, I took it on a test run to Wendover from SLC. Took her all the way up to 120 mph and kept hitting the deadband, the old brick wall. I am running 195-45-15's on the car, this contributing to the slow top end speed. The ECU kept hitting the top speed limiter for about ten minutes. Pain in my A$$! Thus, I will be going either with GIAC's chip or a cheaper TT chip, solving this issue. It will be interesting to see how the top end on the car will do without any limiter.

P.S. I blew out both my outer CV axles on that trip, spewing forth grease everywhere!

DUDE, that wendover road is awesome.... I took the Benz up to 130ish and it was smoother than ever... I was afraid of getting a ticket, because if I get another one in the state of utah, I loose my licence to operate a Volkswagen... LOL.
