i have a Vw golf 1.8 liter that i race oval track with
i am wondering if and volkswagen golfs came with flat top pistons
and that will match my motor mounts and drop it right in
i have a webber carb and intake right now that will fit the cylinder head
that i have right now
if a golf came with a 2.0 with flat top pistons i would like to put that it but the car has to be relatively stock so i think i can explain to the track officials that it is infact stock

Crap... I thought you had the 2.0L ABA Golf... I did a big writeup on your other thread here:
http://www.dubnetworks.net/showthread.php?t=1621
Since you have the 1.8L, there's a bit you can do to exploit the "stock" rules. There is a 2.0L ABA engine that makes like 115hp and 125ft lbs... of course, that is on EFI, and your track rules probably prohibit EFI. If you needed to keep the top end stock so you can use your carb, then you can use the 1.8L head on your car on the 2.0L Passat block. I am 99.9% sure the head will bolt up.... but I envision you having an insane compression ratio. Passats have "hemi" engines... or "hemispherical" if you wanted to get technical. You probably already know what this means... If you don't, to put it simply means the intake and exhaust valves come on on an angle in crossflow heads. This creates a "V" shaped indentation in the head for each cylinder. In the standard "wedge head" the valves are parallel to each other causing the cylinder "cup" to remain flat. Anyway.... because of this "V" shape, there is more space to create combustion... A stock Passat 9A engine has a compression ratio of 10.5:1 iirc... Keep in mind that if you put a 8V wedge head on this 9A block you MIGHT have piston/valve contact. If there is no contact you might have insane compression... like 13.5:1. This would be really good for a track car since you can use leaded jet fuel realistically.
TECHNICALLY, the engine would remain 100% factory stock. My dad used to do oval track with his 77 Thunderbird. He used exhaust manifolds from a super cobra jet which were practically race headers. The other racers tried to claim they were aftermarket, but since it was a ford factory part, they couldn't do crap about it.
I say go for it... A 2.0L VW engine on 13.5:1 compression would scream like a bat out of hell.
Keep me posted!

hahah your not going to believe this but i already did ll the things you said
i found passot motor and put my 1.8 head that has been shaven and polished
i've already went through 3 brand new starters on the car because of the compression its incredible

Soo... you had the head shaved too? You should do the calculations and see if you can figure out what compression ratio you are running. I would be really interested in seeing some pictures of your car. Where do you race? What kind of cars are your competitors?

What have I got to do to get you to elaborate on all the specs and post some pictures?
