Hey guy's I'm new here and was wondering if anybody can give info on retofitting cruise control to a 2.0 4 speed automatic Golf lV. I know I'm drive by wire, but I was told by my local VW steeler that I would have to by a new ECU
cruise stalk, and wiring loom. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know. Thanks, Mike:confused:

To get factory cruise operational there would be a lot of retrofitting required... Probably costing atleast a few grand. If you want an OEM solution your best bet is to find a car with cruise and sell yours. I know that Checker, Schucks, Kragens or Autozone sell a standalone unit, but i'm sure this is for drive by cable systems. Your car is drive by wire, but you could switch out your TB for a drive by cable and switch out your gas peddal. But since your car is automatic, you can forget about doing that... because I think the transmissions electronically adapt to your driving habbits... which means if you remove the computer bits from the gas peddal or TB then you'll be in big trouble.
If it was anything older than 98, then you would be set to go... but whereas you got the new bits it's pretty hopeless.
Sorry, mate... Let me know what you decide.

Well there you go.... Where there is a will there is a way, I guess. That sounds like a solution. Really though cruise control is not really worth that much trouble.
