I decided to go with a Right hand Drive 4MOTION BORA...

I'm talking with shipping companies and Car Dealerships in England...Looks like Ill be getting one within the next 4 months or so for about $7k w/ 46k miles on it...

NOW HERES MY QUESTION: Before doing this...I'm looking to you guys for some information and help...Will it be difficult to install a new VR6 engine, tranny, and turbo system due to the Bora being RHD and AWD or should it be easy enough because a Bora and jetta are the same car? Or should I just stick with a normal Jetta and make life easy?

Thanks for taking the time,

Matt

well I dont know anything about importing but wouldnt it just be easier to find one WITH a vr6 already in it?

There is a company in the USA that has imported "parts cars" that are right hand drive. If I were you, I'd buy a car here that is VR6, and buy the front clip to one of the "parts cars" That'll have everything you need to convert the car to right hand drive. Plus, you won't have the hassle of importing. Import taxes are REDICULOUS... plus customs might not let you bring a foreign car in if it does not meet ever single us safety and emissions standard.

See here's the thing:

I could care less if it was Right hand Drive or Not, what I am very interested in is the 4Motion AWD...an AWD jetta pushing 425+ hp to the wheels would be unbelivable, there is no one in the US with one, magazines and shows would go nuts over the thing...Wouldn't that be worth the Import tax?

And as per the saftey specs, is it not the exact same thing that we have here? It's a euro spec jetta thats all...The safety is no different...I could be mistaken...

find a wrecked r32... Your going to spend alot of money either way. Theres a TDI locally with a 4motion badge, Probably rebadged but I want to go take a closer look at it.

Wait, Sam...Is that possible? To trade out an R32 4Motion with a Jetta's drivetrain? I know it won't be as simple as making an Jolf or a Getta, but if the chassis are the same...is it possible?

If you want AWD, it would probably be easier and cheaper to start with a car thats AWD. You are right about the AWD bora... that would be very impressive to see at shows. Your chances of finding a wrecked R32 that has not already been raped of all it's parts are slim to none. Only 5,000 R32's were made.
