View Full Version : unnecesary clunking
every time i turn my steering wheel, i get an unnerving clunking noise. it used to be my cv joints, but i got those replaced, so i know it's not those. also, if i turn sharp, my steering will pull the way i just turned, even if i straighten the wheel out.
what's going on here? anyone know?

Sounds to me like either your alignment is off, or you got a problem with the steering rack. My bet would be on the steering rack, although you might want to get the alignment checked out first, since it's cheaper.

uhh.. clunking would be cv joints... Or another common problem with the mk2 is a bolt at the end of the strut that likes to work it's way out..
Take your wheel off and check for loose ****..
